For the truthtellers
(Call for Submissions coming soon)
This edited volume—tentatively titled, For the Truthtellers—is conceptualized around the themes of conflict, transformation, evolution, and love to grapple with the problem (or question) of the 21st Century: the choice between love or annihilation. My co-editor, Blaque Robinson, and I are compiling essays, poetry, art, and interviews geared toward publication in a popular press for public enjoyment and digestion of participants’ meditations/ offerings on moving past intergenerational trauma to move toward beloved community.
Global Translation for liberation
(In development)
Media: Podcast
Theme: Imagining and developing emancipatory spaces, practices, values, and futures.
Inspiration: Global and Transnational Sociology in a Du Boisian tradition is one where scholarship and activism are mutually informed and creatively employed to work toward an emancipatory present and future at a global scale. This project is inspired by this tradition as well as by my experiences abroad speaking with people and witnessing movements unable to access helpful ideas and practices described in other languages. Every language culture contains wisdom. Bi and multi-lingual people can serve as both bridges and knowledge-bringers across time and space to work against oppression and work for equitable futures.
Goals:
To deploy our multi-lingual translation abilities in the service of liberation and emancipatory futures by translating the main ideas of books in one language into another language
To disseminate ideas and practices across languages, cultures, and borders in real-time before an institution or person deems a book we are passionate about—if ever—sufficiently worthy or profitable to translate and publish in other languages
To facilitate access to scholarship, theory, experience, and narratives from outside and in- between academic, activist, and everyday space at a global scale
To passionately speak about texts that have positively shaped or transformed our self, interpersonal, or global understanding in the pursuit of just, free, loving, and healthy lives
To encourage mutual intellectual and practical exchange across language borders
